With over three decades of experience, Douglas McCoy has built a career defined by creativity, education, and a deep passion for hairdressing. From working behind the chair to styling for film and TV, backstage at New York Fashion Week, and collaborating with globally recognized product companies, Douglas’s journey is one of dedication to his craft and the beauty industry.
In 2014, Douglas opened the doors of House of POp, a space designed for hardcore hairdressers—stylists who are deeply committed to their craft, education, and creativity. Over the years, the salon has grown into a hub where new stylists can hone their skills, experienced hairdressers are free to create art, and clients feel like they’re stepping into a world of effortless cool.
Douglas’s work has garnered global recognition. He is a six-time Hairbrained Video Award winner, including the prestigious Video of the Year and multiple awards for Razor Haircutting. His innovative vision has been featured in Vogue Italia, American Salon, Modern Salon, Estetica, and countless other global publications, spanning countries like Japan, China, Italy, Ireland, and Australia.
As an educator, Douglas has worked with some of the most respected names in the industry, including Sassoon, Toni & Guy, Bumble and bumble, and R+Co. His work has taken him across the globe, where he has shared his expertise with thousands of students and professionals, always with the goal of inspiring others to elevate their skills and embrace the artistry of hairdressing.
Today, Douglas continues to work behind the chair, delivering exceptional, client-focused experiences while mentoring and educating the next generation of stylists at House of POp. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that every stylist deserves the tools and knowledge to succeed—and he’s committed to providing that foundation through education, collaboration, and a relentless dedication to the craft.
